All the brands have massive infrastructure for research and development, technology and manufacturing. All the brands manufacture extensive range of mountain bikes including special purpose bikes. It is very difficult to review different brands on a common footing and it is a mammoth task. Various magazines and clubs and forums carry out such exercises.

For an individual, there are two most important factors for selecting a perfect mountain bike. First is to decide his riding requirement (XC, DH, Trail, and Freeride) and the second is the economic constraint. With this two factors the selection process could become little easier.
